I was always fascinated by big wild cats, especially lions. I started with the idea of painting a lion face with mane. For inspiration, I looked at several pictures, videos, documentaries and even visited zoo. Through all this, I was captivated by lion’s eyes. I had always believed that eyes are a window to the heart. Hence, I decided to paint a full monochromatic lion to emphasize the eyes and emotions behind them. Completing this artwork was a long and tiresome, yet most gratifying journey. As I painted the eyes, face, and mane with my fingers, I developed a special affection with Dexter. I consider this as one of the best works, I ever completed. Any viewer could see thorough those eyes and feel the composure, pride, and self- esteem of Dexter.
